3. Recipes for beginners

Getting started in the kitchen can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. There are plenty of simple and easy recipes out there that are perfect for those just getting into cooking as a hobby. Here are a few that you can try to start your journey:


1. Vegetarian Chili – This is a great dish to make because it’s both filling and nutritious.

All you need is a can of diced tomatoes, a can of black beans, one onion, some garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Simply sauté the onions and garlic in some oil until softened, then add the tomatoes and beans.

Add the spices and let simmer for about 30 minutes and you’ve got yourself a delicious vegetarian chili!


2. Pasta Primavera – Pasta Primavera is a classic dish that’s easy to make and can be customized with whatever vegetables you have on hand. The ingredients are your favorite pasta, vegetables such as bell peppers, mushrooms, carrots, or zucchini, some olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.

Sauté the vegetables in the olive oil until softened, then add the cooked pasta and toss to combine.

Season with salt and pepper to taste and you’ve got yourself a flavorful dish!


3. Veggie Burgers   – Veggie burgers are an excellent alternative to traditional hamburgers and they’re surprisingly easy to make. You'll need some cooked black beans, rolled oats, a flax egg (1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed mixed with 3 tablespoons of warm water), some diced onion and garlic, salt, pepper, and your favorite herbs and spices (such as oregano, cumin, chili powder).

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until well combined, then form the mixture into patties.

Heat some oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the burgers for about 5 minutes per side or until golden brown.

Serve on your favorite bun with your favorite condiments and enjoy!


Cooking as a hobby can be a great way to relieve stress while also learning new skills. These recipes are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to simple dishes that beginners can make.
